Art History at Bedtime with Dr Bendor Grosvenor: Sofonisba Anguissola (c. 1532–1625) by Raffaele Soprani
In dulcet tones, Bendor Grosvenor reads from Raffaele Soprani’s 1674 biography of Renaissance painter Sofonisba Anguissola (c. 1532–1625). The translation of the original Italian is taken from Julia K. Dabbs’ Life Stories of Women Artists, 1550–1800: An Anthology (2009). Produced during the 2020 Covid lockdown, Grosvenor’s twelve-part series features readings from art historical texts by Giorgio Vasari, Michelangelo and Horace Walpole.
